Food and Nutritional Sciences, Non-Thesis Option, M.S.


Non-Thesis
This program is a 12 to 18 month program requiring 30 course hours from core and the student’s major emphasis (nutrition or food science). Students are required to take a final examination and pass with a minimum of an 80 %. Only one retake is allowed.

During matriculation the   student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on all coursework taken regardless of the level of coursework or the reason it was taken.  Any course being applied toward the degree must be taken for a letter grade and must be given a grade of C or better.   Students must earn a “B” or above in each required course in order to satisfy the FNS department requirements. The graduate school requires a 3.0 GPA for graduation. Only 6 credits below a “B” are allowed for credit (C) at Tuskegee University.

Admission to Candidacy

Immediately after completing one year (~18 hours) of course work at Tuskegee University, the student must submit to the Dean of Graduate Studies, a completed application for the Candidacy for the degree. The application must be signed by the advisor and at least one graduate faculty.   A student cannot be admitted to candidacy or graduate with a cumulative GPA below 3.0.
