EVSC 0522 - Introduction to Toxicology Credits: 3 Semester: 2nd Semester. Lecture: 3 This course is designed to expose students to the sciences of toxins (poisons) and their adverse effects on biological systems and the environment. Course content will cover the history, concepts, principles, mechanisms and kinetics of toxicology, as well as the types of toxicity/toxicants, risk assessment, absorption, distribution, and metabolism. The effects of toxins on environmental systems will be covered in case studies, and lectures will focus on mammalian toxicology.
Prerequisite(s): 100-200 level course in chemistry, biology, etc. or the permission of the instructor.
