CHEM 0231 - General Chemistry I Credits: 4 Semester: Fall, Spring, and Summer Lecture: 3 Lab: Recitation 1
This is the first course in a two-semester general chemistry sequence designed to provide a rigorous foundation for students pursuing studies in science, engineering, and related disciplines. Topics include stoichiometry, atomic and molecular structure, chemical bonding, oxidation-reduction reactions, gas laws, and the properties of gases, liquids, and solids. Emphasis is placed on quantitative problem-solving and the development of fundamental chemical principles necessary for advanced coursework in chemistry and related fields.
